I fucking love Drake, way more than a man in his thirties should
– a man in his thirties who isn’t Drake of course- and I make no apologies for that. I think his seamless integration of R&B sensibilities, hip-hop legitimacy and hyper-sensitive emotions is genuinely ingenious, and his effect on the wider pop landscape perhaps won’t be appreciated and understood until long after he’s stopped making music

One thing Drake lacks, unfortunately, is any sense of differentiating between his pieces of work which are legitimately genius, and those that are bang average wastes of time

Over ‘Views’ 20 tracks (that’s twenty, two-zero, TWENTY, just in case you thought that was a typo and I intended to write a more sensible number) there are frequent examples of his legitimate talent, but they’ll occasionally be a 10-15 minute drought of inspiration that threatens to cause you to forget why you bothered listening to him at all
