‘Big Baby’ is a wonderfully refreshing album. After listening to Schoolboy Q narrate and celebrate all of hell’s circles, the positive charm and implied grin of DRAM’s music is an essential reminder of those times in life that you don’t want to slit your wrists

Even the sexism here, which unfortunately is most definitely present, comes across as the more forgivable Benny Hill honking boobies type, eliciting more tuts and rolled eyebrows than any real misgivings about the general moral standings of society at large
+7
Schoolboy Q’s sexism is more the ‘dumped her desecrated body parts into the canal before later turning the gun on himself’ kind

Lil Yachty hasn’t been relegated from Necessary Evil 2016 entirely, as ‘Lil Boat’ contains one of the greatest songs of the year
but the rest of the record is unconditionally overshadowed, so he joined artists like Underworld, DJ Shadow, Travis Scott, Nao and Kevin Morby who released an album with one outstanding song worthy of the Legit Bosses list but the rest of the record wasn’t notable enough for me to bother including it on the album list. But watching the video for Broccoli and watching a rapper with one of the best voices and most unique looks in the world playing a recorder makes me pause to consider whether I shouldn’t have afforded the record more attention
+8
Perhaps I’m just more forgiving of the record’s occasional dalliances with the vile because DRAM’s debut is such an uncommonly fun, catchy and odd record that I’m willing to allow more things to pass
+3
I might have forgiven Hitler if the Hindenburg address had a banging donk on it

Almost three, the album peaks marvellously in its middle with Cash Machine, Broccoli and Cute
