I’ve loved Cam Cole for nearly 7 years. Since the days when his music sounded like it was clawing its way out of a dark alley at 2 a.m. Raw, ragged, alive, and impossibly human. I promoted every track, shouted from rooftops (not sorry for pissing off friends, family, neighbours, my kids). I annoyed everyone and embarrassed myself frequently. All part of being in the outer circle of the fan circus. I didn’t care; I’d get the tracks in people’s ears one way or another.

In the UK we get all kinds of music festivals when it creeps up to summertime. You’ll get your big heavy things like Download and Bloodstock, then you’ll get the indie poison of choice like Reading and Leeds or Parklife. Then there’s the original hippy gathering with millions injected into it; Glasto. Then you’ll get your niches like Bluedot. 

But do you remember the original Woodstock? Probably not, you’re too young because so am I. 

I remember Woodstock 99, does that count? [Alex]

So what the UK is missing is an old school hippy fest with a twist…

The NE2022 Half-Time Show: Kitty Aurora’s Counterpoint

As all of my loyal readers know, what I say goes and I am the absolute and only authority on what equals good music. I’ve written this blog for almost a decade now, my lists go back to 2007, it’s clear that I know what I’m talking about, these pages deal solely on facts and not on feelings, and everyone else’s takes are merely ‘opinion’ and are generally invalid. But is that always the case?

Yes, obviously. But I am a fair and balanced broadcaster, and will at a push accept that there might be some music that I’ve missed. So, so the halftime show, I’ve invited my good friend, fabulous artist and – most importantly – the absolute oracle of underground British rock music that is Kitty Aurora to show us all what other weird and wonderful music deserves our attention.
